Helena Harris
Principal Consultant – Equine Behavior

Helena brings over 30 years of experience to the Stall and Stable mission. Her career began in software, but after 12 years in the corporate world, she made the switch to the horse industry full time. She’s worked in barns large and small, managed operations, lesson & training programs, general boarding, and speciality services. For 14 years, Helena hosted and produced podcasts in the equine industry with the Horse Radio Network.

In 2024 Helena began her graduate studies in Animal Welfare & Behavior Science at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine (PennVet).

As an equestrian consultant, Helena realized that business owners spend far too much money on things that don’t support their goals. Many of these expenses can be significantly reduced by creating environments and training programs that work with a horse’s innate behavior instead of against it, as is often the case with traditionally designed facilities and training techniques.

Today, Helena specializes in equine behavior consulting for professionals and private horse owners. From basic stable manners, to guidance about how to help elite sport horses be more competitive, Helena’s expertise is a welcome addition to training programs in a variety of disciplines.

With two OTTB mares and a retired fieldhunter, Helena rides mostly for pleasure these days. She plans to return to foxhunting just as soon as humanly possible, but with so many fun disciplines in Aiken, you never know what arena you’ll find her in! Contact Helena.
