EP 53: Takeaways from a Bernie Traurig Clinic

EP 53 Feature

The Stall and Stable Pro Clinic series was created to bring high caliber horse professionals to the tiniest state in the nation – Rhode Island. Nestled in between 2 powerhouse cities – Boston and New York, the horse-friendly Ocean State has many resident equestrians, but limited opportunities for upper level clinicians. Rhode Island competes with our big brother and sister cities in many areas, so creating a boutique-style experience for the riders in our state is an important goal for the Stall and Stable team. And, as we schedule, attend, and analyze these clinics, we’re in a good position to share our experiences (and some tips for hosting clinics) with you, our listeners.

We were pleased to welcome the legendary USET competitor and coach, Bernie Traurig to the farmcoast last weekend. Offered in partnership with Seapowet Stables in Tiverton, Rhode Island, a small group of riders and auditors got the chance to experience top-level instruction that was surprisingly simple. Listen in!

EP 21: A Compassionate Equestrian

In our continuing series on horse books we recommend for your stable’s library, we feature a great new book called The Compassionate Equestrian.

The book, co-authored by Susan Gordon and Dr. Allen Schoen, DVM, describes 25 principles that compassionate equestrians use as a guide to create healthy and productive relationships with their horses.

One such equestrian is today’s guest: Melissa Deal, a dressage trainer and horse behavior specialist who talks with us about how Compassionate Equitation can improve your horse’s attitude, help you achieve your riding goals, and create a more harmonious relationship with your horse. It’s a really interesting conversation. Listen in!

EP 1: Horizon Structures Backyard Barns

Building a barn in the backyard for our beloved horses is a dream for many horse owners. Waking up to nickers and neighs, choosing your own hay, and relishing in the comfort of knowing your horses are perfectly blanketed can be more than just a dream if we play our cards right and start planning now. In this episode, Jill Siragusa, Chief Marketing Officer for modular barn-building company, Horizon Structures, joins Helena to chat about the process of building one of their barns and what kinds of features we really need.
